A Thing of Beauty

As I said in my last post we Northern Michigan folks get so excited over a sunny day. I just love how God gives us little glimpses of his beauty in every "Season" of our lives! Enjoy!

Making the Best of Winter

Well we are getting into the time of winter where everyone is so ready for it to be over. This time of the year just seems to drag, the kids are restless, the parents are restless....But God is good and has really given us some BEAUTIFUL sunny days that we have most definitely taken advantage of. It is like God was saying "The sun is still here behind all the gloom, I promise. Go enjoy it" And that is just what we have been doing....

I have taken up snowshoeing and I LOVE it. I go as much as possible! Steve got out his cross country skis and we pulled Nathan on the sled through the woods near our house . It was so much fun!

I built a snow tunnel with kids one day and we had fun crawling through it. And the kids love to go sledding down our huge hill behind our house as well.

It is so nice to have little breaks in the long winter like these to go and enjoy being outside!
God is good!

It's Birthday Time!

I can not believe my baby boy is 3 now! Every year just goes by faster and faster.
Nathan was so funny because every time some one would tell him Happy Birthday, instead of saying Thank You, he would say "Happy Birthday to you", It was really cute.

Steve's parents came up the day before and we celebrated with them. Nathan helped me make his cake and of course had to lick the mixer wand.

I attempted to make an ice cream brownie cake but I guess I did not let it freeze up long enough before trying to spread the icing on and then before cutting it. It was NOT Pretty...

The ice cream just squished out all over. It tasted really good though!

And Nathan didn't seem to care. The next day we went to the Great Wolf Lodge where they have an indoor water park. My friend has a little girl who turns 3 a few days after Nathan so we went here to celebrate both of their birthdays.

I think the adults had just as much fun as the kids.

Time Flies!

This Post is going to read a little like a Christmas letter people send out at the end of the year. I promised myself I would keep up with my blog better in 2010 and I figured I have not started out so well, so before Jan. is over I thought I'd better get a jump on it.
Last year was a good year. Busy for all. Maddi started Kindergarten, Nathan got rid of the binky and was potty trained, Steve was (and still is), in school and working at the hospital, and I...well....I kept everything else together most days and hopefully running smoothly.

Nathan wasted no time moving into the two year old, "test my boundaries", stage. He has a great sense of humor and keeps us on our toes. He also loves popcorn...

Madison loves school and is becoming quite the little lady. I can not believe how much older she seems to me now.
Maddi had her First School Christmas Concert... (sniff, sniff)

Christmas came and went so quickly, I love watching the kids at Christmas time and the excitement in their faces with everything. They loved decorating the tree and cookies!
.

Some cute xmas pictures I took...

We had our own little celebration to ring in the new year....

And I met a huge goal and lost 35lbs in 2009!

Steve is working hard, taking classes towards his RN degree during the week and working 12hr night shifts at the hospital on the weekends. Recently we had a HUGE answer to prayer and Steve was finally able to switch to day shifts which has made all the difference for all of us!

And now onto 2010......

Family Vacation Short Story

Once upon a time,
two sisters decided to take a road trip with their kids across the country from Michigan to
Colorado for their sister Rachel's wedding.

It was a looooong drive! But very fun!

They had many adventures while on their trip

And they were so excited when they made it to their final destination!

Then my Hubby came and joined us in Colorado a couple weeks later. It was so good to see him!

The wedding was beautiful! Maddi was the flower girl...

and Tara and I were Bridesmaids.

My Hubby and little man looked so handsome!

Good times were had by all!

After the wedding it was time to hit the road again and head home.

Our trip home as a family was AMAZING!

We went to Mount Rushmore.....

...saw a lot of wildlife

even dinosaurs!

...went to the Badlands

And had a so much fun spending time together as a family! I will treasure this trip in my heart happily ever after!

The End
