What A Day!

Everyone who knows Madison knows that there is rarely a dull moment when she is around. She is so energetic, outgoing, talkative and says the funniest things. She is also very strong willed and independent. While I love all these things about her, they often get her into trouble as well, and yesterday was one of those days. She has a thing for playing with water which in and of itself is not a bad thing. I often let her play in the sink in the bathroom and usually end up cleaning up a flood of water on the floor but I try to let it be one of those things she can do sometimes for fun. Recently she has decided to venture out of the bathroom with the water and has ended up soaking my bedroom carpet on a couple of occasions. I even found a sopping wet hand towel hiding under my bed. I know I know, it's just water, but cleaning it up off the tile floor in the bathroom is one thing. Trying to dry my carpet is another. So I had talked to her about this and asked her to keep it off mommy's carpet and in the bathroom. Needless to say when mommy is not around to see, she does what she wants. So I walk in my bedroom, where I had left Madison watching cartoons, after putting Nathan down for a nap and I find her holding a plastic grocery bag FULL of water in her lap and she looks up and me and said "This is my Squishy". Although it sounds funny now that was only part of it because she must have filled the bag up numerous times and dumped it onto my carpet in several places around the room. So again my floor was sopping wet. I did not lose it though but I took the bag away and told her I was disappointed that she disobeyed me and sent her to her room to think about it. After some yelling and crying at me for taking away "Squishy" we all calmed down and moved on.
Well my day did not stop there. It was not an hour or two later and Nathan was awake now and they were in Maddi's room playing. Nathan came out pointing to his head and I didn't know what he was saying until Maddi came out and said, "I gave Nathan a hair cut" Well knowing that she had not come out and taken scissors back to her room I said "Oh a pretend haircut?" and she said "Ya with real Scissors". So I go over to look at Nathan's hair and sure enough it was all chopped up. So I ran to her room to find my scissors lying on her bed with a big pile of hair!( see picture below) This does not include the hair that was on the floor and all over him. Of course I had to buzz the poor little guys head, at least he's a boy! Oh what to do. , is was only by the Grace of God that I was able to keep myself as calm as I did. Come to find out she had snuck the scissors to her room in the middle of the night and hid them because she wanted to cut something out of some paper. Well, a long story short, I had a long talk with her and told her she had to stay in her room until Daddy got home and no more cartoons or anything for the rest of the day. Steve got home about 2 hours later. The first hour I think she spent crying in her room. But when she came out she was like an angel. So helpful and sweet, it was like I had a new child. And then she said something that was just not what I was expecting, she said "Mommy you are the best Mommy ever". WOW!!! After all that, and me getting mad at her and punishing her... It just proved to me that kids really do want boundaries and consequences, and they see that we love them by sticking to it. What a way to end the day! BeforeAfter

Joy

So this would be my first official post not about my blog. Although I must say there is joy in the fact that I am happy with how my blog looks now and I think I am done messing with it. (at least for now, until I get bored with it)
Anyway this post is really about the joy of seeing your children love each other. Maddi walked in the door today from school and as soon as Nathan heard her voice, instead of turning and running for his life, (haha) he ran to embrace her. "Maaaiii" he said, with open arms, and gave her a big hug. She excitedly hugged him as well, and then Nathan took her hand and pointed outside as if asking her to come and play. It was so cute! It absolutely melted my heart to see the love between them. The moment has since been replaced by screaming and fighting but I am determined to focus on those short but wonderful moments that fill me with Joy!

It's Getting There

I think I'm close to the blog design I want. Just trying to change the background. All in all I'm pretty happy with it though, figured out how to change the colors and all that so... I guess now I can start leaving some real posts on more interesting things. Although with the last couple posts from the Peek blog I think I may have a hard time competing. Our life is definitely not that exciting. I guess I will have to did deep to come up with some fun stuff to post. Haha! :)

Welcome to My World

So my sister Tara introduced me to the world of blogs not to long ago and I thought; "Why not, I'll start a blog. It could be fun" Well it did not take long for the artist in me to come out and I could not just settle for your everyday ordinary blog page. I set out to design my own. Little did I know how addicting and time consuming this would be. So, if you visit my page and it suddenly looks different, don't worry, you are probably in the right place. I am just not satisfied with how it looks and I have many ideas and options to explore before I settle on my final look. But for now I will leave it as is because I am neglecting other things that probably should be taken care of first. :)
